چکیده

Within the framework of the quantized nesting model, we study the effect of umklapp scattering on the magnetic-field-induced spin-density-wave (SDW) phases which are experimentally observed in the quasi-one-dimensional organic conductors (TMTSF)2X. We discuss the conditions under which umklapp processes may explain the sign reversals (Ribault anomaly) of the quantum Hall effect (QHE) observed in these conductors. We find that the ‘Ribault phase’ is characterized by the coexistence of two SDWs with comparable amplitudes. This gives rise to additional long wavelength collective modes besides the Goldstone modes due to spontaneous translation and rotation symmetry breaking. These modes strongly affect the optical conductivity. We also show that the Ribault phase may become helicoidal (i.e with circularly polarized SDWs) if the strength of umklapp processes is sufficiently strong. The QHE vanishes in the helicoidal phases, but a magnetoelectric effect appears.

Quantum Hall effect anomaly and collective modes in the magnetic-field-induced spin-density-wave phases of quasi-one-dimensional conductors

We study the collective modes in the magnetic-field-induced spin-density-wave (FISDW) phases experimentally observed in organic conductors of the Bechgaard salts family. In phases that exhibit a sign reversal of the quantum Hall effect (Ribault anomaly), the coexistence of two spin-density waves gives rise to additional long wavelength collective modes besides the Goldstone modes due to spontan...

Temperature Evolution of the Quantum Hall Effect in Quasi-One-Dimensional Organic Conductors

The Hall conductivity in the magnetic-field-induced spin-density-wave (FISDW) state of the quasi-onedimensional organic conductors (TMTSF)2X at a finite temperature is calculated. The temperature dependence of the Hall conductivity is found to be the same as the temperature dependence of the Fröhlich current of a regular charge/spin-density wave. Predicted dependence σxy(T ) can be verified exp...

This paper has examined the analytical solution of steady fully developed natural convective flow of a viscous incompressible and electrically conducting fluid between vertical channel by taking the Hall current and induced magnetic field into account. We have obtained the non-dimensional simultaneous ordinary differential equations using the suitable non-dimensional variables and parameters in...

Quantum Hall Effect in chiral d - wave charge density waves

We study the electromagnetic response of a chiral dxy + id x 2 −y 2 charge density wave state. Due to parity (P) and time reversal (T) violation, Chern-Simons terms emerge in the effective action of the U(1) gauge field. As a consequence electric and magnetic fields are coupled providing the possibility of observing the Spontaneous Quantum Hall Effect i.e. generation of Hall voltage via the sol...
